The Problem

As Ludocratic Games ramped up development, their social media couldn't keep pace. Having already earned the studio's trust as their copywriter, I was handed the keys to their online presence.

The problem? I'd never run a social media strategy before.

Nothing a little crash course couldn’t fix.

I immersed myself in platform best practices, picked up Canva, Affinity, and CapCut, and built a content strategy that worked around the realities of indie game development.

Within a month, the studio was seeing measurable growth—and I'm still leading their social media today.

Connecting Players Through Events

With The Box is Alive still in development, Ludocratic Games relies on events, showcases, and announcements to grow awareness for its debut title.

I create campaigns that introduce both the game and the team to new audiences—whether players are discovering an exclusive sneak peek or meeting the developers in person.

For this event campaign, I designed a promotional graphic in Affinity Designer and wrote copy that hooked players with an exclusive preview of the game.

After the event, I captured the experience through a leadership post featuring attendee moments, highlighting the community behind the game while bringing the studio's personality to life.

Built to Drive Wishlists

As The Box is Alive approached Early Access, every campaign was designed with one goal: drive traffic to Steam.

Working alongside the content producer, I created launch visuals, designed A/B-tested YouTube thumbnails, and wrote platform-specific copy with clear calls to action.

From trailers to social posts, every asset was built to capture attention, increase awareness, and encourage players to visit Steam and wishlist the game.

Community Updates & Transparency

Keeping Players in the Know

With The Box is Alive fully funded on Kickstarter, keeping backers informed became just as important as promoting the game.

I took ownership of Kickstarter updates covering development progress, reward fulfillment, and where backer funds were going.

Clear, transparent communication kept the community informed, reinforced trust, and maintained Ludocratic's playful personality—even when delivering difficult news.

Long-Form Updates & Devlogs

Posts with (Re)Purpose

My bread and butter! Since joining Ludocratic Games in September 2025, I've written and published developer updates and devlogs that translate complex game development topics into engaging, accessible content.

Each piece is strategically repurposed across platforms. For this feature on creating an enemy NPC, I collaborated with the studio to pair the story with compelling in-game visuals, maximizing the reach of a single piece of content.

Key Platform Differences

  • Kickstarter: A casual, scannable update that keeps backers informed while reinforcing their role in the game's development.

  • LinkedIn: A deeper look at how the art team brought the character to life, highlighting cross-functional collaboration, creative problem-solving, and the studio's development process.

These devlogs do more than share progress—they build credibility, strengthen community engagement, and position Ludocratic Games as a thoughtful, transparent studio for players, publishers, and industry partners alike.

Short-Form Social Posts & Videos

Speaking Players’ Language

From concept to publish, I'm involved every step of the way in creating short-form content. Memes and gaming references do more than earn a laugh—they help humanize a studio, build trust, and create a community players want to be part of.

When Ludocratic wanted to reveal one of the game's playable characters, we borrowed a page from the iconic Super Smash Bros. reveal playbook.

Working with the art team, I helped turn the idea into a polished graphic, then teamed up with our content producer to create a stylized teaser that built hype before the full character reveal dropped.

Storytelling in Motion

Ludocratic Games wanted to level up its marketing with a high-production intro to The Box is Alive.

Working with the content producer and studio leadership, I helped shape the video's core messaging before writing the script and storyboarding the entire project.

Together, we went beyond social posts and memes to create a polished introduction packed with gameplay, on-screen gags, and compelling hooks designed to capture players' attention.

Content Strategy & Management

Beyond Hitting “Publish”

As my role expanded into strategy and social media management, I transitioned Ludocratic Games' workflow to Buffer, creating a more streamlined publishing process.

I plan, tailor, and schedule platform-specific content while managing a shared Notion content calendar that keeps marketing, development, and community priorities aligned.

This collaborative workflow keeps campaigns organized, maintains consistent messaging, and ensures The Box is Alive reaches the right audience at the right time.

The Results

Social media went from an occasional afterthought to a repeatable marketing channel.

By building a consistent content schedule and platform-specific messaging, I created a sustainable system that kept the studio visible, reinforced its brand, and supported long-term audience growth.
